Mining
Tarong Energy acquired a number of mining tenements including Exploration Permits for Coal (EPCs) and Exploration Permits for Minerals (EPMs) as part of securing a long-term fuel source for the Tarong and Tarong North Power Stations.
On September 10, 2007, the Queensland Government announced it had accepted the Corporation's recommendation to purchase Meandu Mine, adjacent to the stations, and the Kunioon coal resource 12 kilometres south of Kingaroy, signalling the end of the fuel decision process.
