            Environmental Management System

            Environmental Management System

Tarong Energy maintains an Environmental Management System (EMS) which is certified to the international standard AS/NZS ISO 14001 at the Brisbane Corporate Office, Tarong Power Station and Wivenhoe Power Station. The EMS provides a structure for ensuring that the organisation understands and manages all of its environmental issues and risks in accordance with the Environment Policy. Currently, Tarong Energy's significant environmental risks relate to managing greenhouse gas emissions, ash storage, stormwater emissions and air emissions from the Tarong Power Station.

Key elements of the EMS include:
            • Environment Policy
            • Monitoring our environmental risks
            • Complying with legal and other requirements
            • Ensuring environmental awareness and competency of our staff and contractors
            • Developing an environmental management program
            • Maintaining environmental controls and documentation including emergency response plans and procedures
            • Implementing an audit program
            • Providing an opportunity for review and feedback
We recognise that to be effective, environmental management must be integrated into all aspects of the business.
